Yet to win in Listed company, but has handled herself well at this level, going closest when beaten a short-head at Pontefract (1m4f, good to firm) in June; has shown a tendency to dwell in the stalls.

Yet to win over further than 1m or above a Class 3 handicap, so coupled with her preference for a prominent style of racing, she looks certain to find the going getting tough at the business end of this race.

Dismal effort (soon struggling) when eased in Listed company at Maisons-Laffitte (1m2f+ good) last month, having earlier won three lesser races on the bounce, including twice on Tapeta at Newcastle; plenty to find on official figures.

Raced in the main with some cut underfoot (two-time 1m4f+ winner in 2017); fairly solid placed efforts in Group 3 and Listed contests latterly, but the tongue-tie and cheekpieces are now introduced.

Sister to Group 3 winner So Mi Dar, out of the Group 1 middle-distance winner Dar Re Mi; looked to be the real deal in the Pretty Polly Stakes (1m2f) at Newmarket in May, so every possibility that she'll extended the unbeaten sequence further.

70,000 gns yearling and brought along steadily by her trainer making all to win small field novice races at Ripon (1m2f) and Chester (1m4f+); further progression is anticipated but this is a far deeper contest than she has tackled thus far.

Heavily eased when beaten in the 1m4f Group 3 Gordon Stakes this month (Glorious Goodwood); better judged on her earlier Salisbury novice win (by 12L), and held Ribblesdale third to Magic Wand; still unexposed but needs to bounce back swiftly.

Forecasts

Lah Ti Dar (4/6), Sun Maiden (5/1), Alwaysandforever (7/1), Shailene (10/1), Lubinka (10/1), What A Home (12/1), Snow Wind (16/1), Light Of Joy (33/1), Isabella (40/1)

Verdict

Sun Maiden is better judged on her earlier promising efforts, with a thick black line drawn through her Glorious Goodwood Gordon Stakes showing, but this race is firmly within the grasp of the exciting and still unbeaten LAH TI DAR. Her strong family line is well documented, and she looked to be a chip off the old block when drawing right away to take the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes by an ever extending 3¼L at Newmarket in May.
