Timeform highlight two horses of interest at Ripon and Doncaster this evening.
VENTURA EXPRESS - 18:05 Ripon
Ripon’s five-furlong contest has a small field of seven for a sprint handicap but it’s a quality contest with top-weight Tees Spirit running from a mark of 102. This can go to Paul Midgley’s eight-year-old VENTURA EXPRESS who looks ready to strike after looking unlucky on his return to turf at Pontefract earlier this month.
A good second at Newcastle the time before, Ventura Express was well backed last time but couldn’t recover after being hampered inside the final furlong when keeping on, winding up fifth behind Fahrenheit Seven. He’s on a fair mark, and had Venture Capital, a main rival here, behind him last time.
MOSTAR DREAMS - 19:00 Doncaster
MOSTAR DREAMS looks on a good mark for her return as she has her first start for Jim Goldie in this fillies’ handicap. Previously with Iain Jardine, she got off the mark at Carlisle last summer and shaped better than the bare result on her final start last year at York having been up with a strong gallop for a long way.
That was over seven furlongs, but she’d been mainly campaigned over shorter previously, and the return to six this evening will suit. Dropped a couple of pounds since her last run, she’s weighted to go close.
