Bet X Get Y

These are the most common offer to find on the NFL and are available to both new and existing customers.

For new customers, create an account using the code and stake the required amount. Once the bet settles you will be credited with the free bets. A common offer could be Bet 10 Get 40 and are usually available throughout the year.

For existing customers, the offers reward you with less free bets and usually more event-specific. For example, Sky Bet offered a £5 free bet when you placed a £5 free bet on any of the NFL Thanksgiving games this year.

Whether you are a new or existing customer, they are a great way to get some more free bets without having to stake or deposit large amounts.

Free Bet Credit

Free Bet Credits are common across most sports as a way for bookmakers to encourage customers to engage with their product. They are usually low value (between £1-£10 for most customers) and tied to specific events, for example the Super Bowl or a specific round of the playoffs.

To claim the free bets, all you’ll need to do is opt in to the promotion from the promotions screen or the homepage of the bookmaker.

Insurance Free Bets

Insurance Free Bets are usually offered if 1 leg of your Bet Builder or accumulator lets you down. Paddy Power offers this promotion across all sports (except horse racing and greyhounds) and they offer you another chance to win a bet if you narrowly miss out.

With Paddy Power, it is automatically applied to all Bet Builders or accumulators that meet the minimum odds requirement so no opt in is required.

Enhanced Odds NFL Offers

Enhanced Odds offers are a great way for new customers to try get a large free bets bonus without big stakes. When creating your account through the link you will be offered an exclusive price boost. For example, both teams to score a touchdown at 50/1.

The catch with these offers is that the maximum stake is £1, and winnings are paid in free bets. There is also no guarantee that the bet wins so you may not get your free bets.

Deposit Match Free Bets

Deposit Match offers are less common these days, but they are a popular way to claim free bets if you are looking to deposit larger sums.

When creating your account ensure the code is entered when prompted and when you make your first deposit the amount will be matched in free bets up to a specified amount, usually between £50-£100.

No Deposit Free Bets

These are the rarest type of sign-up offer but can still sometimes be found around major sporting events. When creating an account through the link, you’ll be credited the free bets immediately without any qualifying deposit or staking required.

How to Bet on the Super Bowl: A Beginners Guide to NFL Betting

American Football has become a hugely popular betting sport and the Super Bowl is no different! There are loads of different markets that you can bet on in the NFL and while it may seem a bit daunting at first, we look at the most popular types of markets below:

Results Betting

Just like other sports, you can bet on the outcome of the match in the NFL. This is known as betting the Moneyline but it just means picking the outright winner of the match. There are also results markets for the winner of specific quarters or for each half of the game too.

NFL Handicap Betting

Handicap betting is a form of results betting that is incredibly popular on the NFL. Instead of betting on the outright winner, you will either be betting on the favourite to win by at least a certain number of points, or the underdog to be within a certain number of points of the favourites' score.

It is popular because teams can often be strong favourites to win and prices like 1/10 make no appeal for a bettor, whereas handicap odds are usually just under even money. It’s also called “Spread Betting” and the phrase “Covering the Spread” refers to a favourite winning by enough points to win the handicap bet.

Let's look at an example, if you bet on the Buffalo Bills to beat the Carolina Panthers the Moneyline price might be 1/5. However, if you bet on the Bills with a handicap of -8.5 points you would get a better price of 10/11.

For this bet to win, you would need the Buffalo Bills to win by 9 or more points. Conversely, if you had bet on the Carolina Panthers with a +8.5-point handicap, you would need them to be within 9 points of the Buffalo Bills score, or to win the match outright.

Essentially with handicap betting, you are adding or subtracting the handicap to the team's total points and seeing if they win the game.

NFL Player Betting

Player betting has become increasingly popular with the growth of Bet Builders but there is still popularity in betting them as singles or doubles. With player betting, you are betting on the performance of a specific player in the match the most common part of this is with Over/Under betting (covered in the next section) on their passing, rushing, or receiving yards.

Another popular market for player betting is touchdown scorers. Touchdowns are the main way of scoring points and prices will vary depending on if a player is a starter, what position they play, and who they are playing against.

Over/Under Betting in American Football

Over/Under betting is an additional way of player betting and match betting. Most starting players in an NFL game will be given a specific number of rushing yards, receiving yards, passing yards and/or receptions that the bookmaker thinks they will achieve in the game.

The number set by the bookmakers is referred to as “the line”. Player Over/Under betting is always done to a .5 decimal to ensure there are no exact matches with the line that has been set.

You are then able to bet on whether they will or won’t exceed this number, usually at around odds of 10/11. For example, you could bet on Justin Jefferson to have over 80.5 receiving yards or Patrick Mahomes to have under 265.5 passing yards.

Aside from player betting, you can also bet on the total number of points to be scored in the game by both teams. For example, you could bet on there to be over 45.5 total points scored in the game.

What Does Moneyline Mean in NFL Betting?

Moneyline is a term used in American Sports to refer to who will win the match outright. It ignores any handicap stipulations and is the same as betting on a match result in the Premier League.

It is less popular than handicap betting as the price can be unappealing to bettors, with teams sometimes being as short as 1/20 to win a match.

What is a Super Bowl Prop Bet?

Prop bets are another way of referring to player betting (mentioned above). You will be betting on the performance of a specific player in the match. There are a lot of different prop bets you can make on the Super Bowl, or any NFL match, and we cover some of the common terminology below:

An important note with how yardage is calculated in the NFL. They are calculated by the distance down the pitch the ball/player travelled horizontal to the sideline measured from the Line of Scrimmage. It does not refer to the distance the ball/player actually ran (including any lateral or diagonal movement).

What are NFL Receiving Yards?

In the NFL there are two ways of advancing the ball for your team, rushing (running the ball) or passing (throwing the ball). Receiving yards are calculated for the player that catches the ball after a pass and includes both the yards the pass travelled and the yards the player ran before being tackled.

Receiving yards can be accrued over several catches throughout the entirety of the game.

What are NFL Rushing Yards?

Rushing (running) the ball is the other way of progressing down the field and is done when the quarterback hands or pitches the ball backwards. The yardage is calculated from the Line of Scrimmage (where the play began) not where the player starts running from.

What are Quarterback Passing Yards?

Betting on the passing yards for each quarterback is very common in the NFL and Super Bowl. It is calculated from the Line of Scrimmage, not where the ball is thrown from, and includes the yards the ball travels and the yards the receiver runs after catching it.

What is a Sack Bet?

When a player tackles the quarterback behind the Line of Scrimmage while he still has the football it is known as a sack. When betting you could pick a specific player to have a sack in the match, it is worth noting sacks can be awarded as half a sack if 2 players tackle the quarterback together.

A quarterback can be tackled after they have run past the Line of Scrimmage, but this is just a tackle, not a sack.

What Does “D/ST” Mean in the NFL?

When looking at touchdown markets you might see the letters “D/ST” and this refers to any player from the defence or special teams scoring a touchdown. These are a lot rarer than players on the offence scoring touchdowns so the price is usually bigger.

What is the “Line of Scrimmage” in the NFL?

The Line of Scrimmage is the name given to an invisible line stretching from sideline to sideline through where the ball starts each play. There are a variety of rules which are impacted by the Line of Scrimmage but for bettors it is important as the yards gained or lost by a player is measured from this point.

What are “Alt Rushing/Receiving Yards” in American Football?

When betting on player markets, you will be offered a line set by the bookmaker based on how they think the player will perform. Underneath this market you might see “Alt” rushing or receiving yards.

This allows you to select a different line to that offered by the bookmaker, this will in turn either increase or decrease the odds based on its relativity to the line the bookmaker set.

How to Use My Free Bets on the NFL

Betting on the NFL has become incredibly popular in the UK, with shows like NFL Redzone and the NFL London Games growing its audience. With an increasing number of markets and options, Bet Builders have become a great way to use your free bets on the NFL.

By combining a few selections you could use your free bets on a Bet Builder at bigger odds, allowing you to try win a bigger return without having to stake your own money. Try combining a few player props and a handicap bet into one bet builder to get some bigger odds!

While they are more popular, it is worth mentioning that the more legs you add to your Bet Builder, the more difficult it is to win!

How Long is an NFL Game?

The total playing time of an NFL game is 60 minutes, split into four 15-minute quarters. However, stoppages, penalties, and media timeouts make the entire game last between 3-4 hours. The average length of an NFL game is reportedly around 3 hours and 10 minutes.

The Super Bowl takes a lot longer due to an extended halftime for the Super Bowl Halftime show, meaning the game usually is closer to the 4 hour mark.

What are the NFL London Games?

The NFL London Games are part of the NFL’s International Series, where some games in the regular season are played outside of America.

The growing popularity of American Football in the UK has seen the series include three games a year in London since 2014 (except for 2021) with Wembley and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium the main venues, although Twickenham has hosted three games too.

What is the Super Bowl MVP?

MVP stands for Most Valuable Player and is awarded to the best player in the Super Bowl. It is awarded by a panel of 16 sports writers and a fan vote, with their votes accounting for 80% and 20% respectively.

The award historically is dominated by quarterbacks, with 33 having won the award. The next most common is wide receiver with eight landing the prize. It is a popular betting market too with some big prices available for those trying to guess who will win Super Bowl MVP.
