Verdict

Given the strength in depth that he had to choose from, it looks noteworthy that Nicky Henderson's bid to win this for only the second time has been left to CHAMP. He impressed when asked to quicken in the Challow at Newbury and can extend his winning sequence to five. The Irish challenge is a strong one, with plenty options. Battleoverdoyen is no Samcro, but he looks a stout stayer and should run a big race while Ruby Walsh's mount Easy Game can have his Navan win marked up, given the trouble he encountered in running. City Island and Galvin are unbeaten and potentially dangerous, while Sams Profile is likely to be staying on late in the day.
