Displayed fairly useful form when winning pair of juvenile hurdles last term and stepped up appreciably on his reappearance run when winning in 2m handicap here over Christmas. Feasible to think he could improve again now stamina is tested further.

Signed off 2023/24 bumper campaign off with a good second in Sandown listed contest. Followed hurdles debut/reappearance success at Market Rasen (20.6f, good) with a smashing second in listed company at Newbury in November and there's more to come now handicapping back up in trip.

Fairly useful hurdler for Olly Murphy who dispelled a lesser effort when third on yard debut in handicap at Warwick (19f) back in April. Returns from another 9-month absence now but his stable have been amongst the winners of late. Had wind surgery.

Fairly useful form over hurdles in France last spring, winning at Moulins and second at Auteuil. Off 7 months prior to a below-par stable debut effort when fourth of 9 in novice at Fontwell on Boxing Day and he goes handicapping now, again minus the hood worn in France.

Bumper winner who still looked raw when winning each of his 2 starts in novice hurdles (at up to 21.7f) last term. Shaped better than distance beaten suggests on return at Uttoxeter in November but his subsequent Hereford run was well below his best.

Off the mark in Irish points (dead-heated) at the third attempt and made a successful Rules debut in a novice at Newcastle (20.3f) 12 months ago. Shaped as if amiss when pulled up on reappearance/handicap debut at Warwick (21f) 7 weeks ago, however. Needs to get back on track.

Resumed progress when bagging a third win in handicaps at Taunton (19f) in November and firmly backed up that effort when finishing a good second of 9 in handicap at Kempton (21f) 33 days ago. Drop back in trip will hold no fears and rider takes off valuable 5 lb. Respected.

Chase winner here (2m) last season. Largely consistent in this sphere and shaped as if a return to this longer trip would suit when sixth of 18 in handicap hurdle (40/1) at Ascot (15.7f, good to soft) 39 days ago, so not without each-way claims having eased a little more in the weights.

Placed on first 2 starts over hurdles before opening his account in a Market Rasen maiden (20.6f) in August. Disappointed back from a break on C&D handicap debut in November but quickly back on track when successful at Ffos Las (20f) 6 weeks ago. That ought not to prove his limit.

Fourth only start in bumpers and despite going off at long odds, he's displayed some promise over hurdles, best effort yet when seventh of 12 in novice hurdle at Taunton (16.5f, soft, 66/1) 20 days ago. Appeals as a likely improver now handicapping but the betting can likely prove a useful guide.

Placed both starts in Irish points and much improved from what he achieved in maidens, when a strong finishing second on handicap debut at Hereford (16.2f) 2 weeks ago. Feasible to think he'd have won if meeting the last better and he's very much of interest now stepped up in trip.

Forecasts

Lanesborough (2/1), Castelfort (11/4), Boyles Hill (13/2), Rula Bula (13/2), Below The Radar (15/2), Midnight Ginger (14/1), King Of The Road (14/1), Moon Over Mexico (28/1), Klic Boum (40/1), Halondo (50/1), Hors Jeu (66/1)

Verdict

LANESBOROUGH readily surpassed the form shown in maidens and almost overcame an unfavourable position when a strong finishing second on handicap debut at Hereford 2 weeks ago. He's one to be firmly interested in on the back of that effort with the step up in trip here also expected to suit. Rula Bula rates a big threat following her listed Newbury second, with last-time-out winner Castelfort and King of The Road others considered in a competitive heat.
