Rapid improver sent chasing last term, winning first 3 starts before shaping better than bare result in Aintree Grade 1 on final start. Went with zest and looked after once chance had gone when last of 5 in Haldon Gold Cup 3 weeks ago and no surprise to see a bold showing with that run behind him.

Dual-winning hurdler who has made a fine start in this sphere, landing back-to-back Aintree handicaps in recent weeks, quickening clear impressive for the latest of them 21 days ago. Hit with a 10 lb rise for that but strong suspicion there's more to come. Player.

Confirmed chase debut promise when opening his account over C&D in March and followed up at Kempton (18f) in May. Ridden a little more patiently and soon done with following mistakes over 19.8f here 23 days ago but return to this shorter trip likely in his favour.

Fairly useful hurdler who tasted success on first 2 starts over fences last autumn. Mixed bag thereafter but returned from 7 months off/wind surgery with a sound second of 7 in handicap chase at Haydock (16.3f) 7 days ago. This tougher but each-way possibilities, nevertheless.

Dual C&D winner last winter who ran well on final start at Kempton (18f) in April and resumed with a fine second of 10 in handicap chase at Ascot (16.8f) 4 weeks ago, that despite some less than fluent jumping. Not discounted especially back here.

Fairly useful hurdler and similar form over fences, doubling his tally with a run under his belt in 4-runner handicap chase at Wincanton (20f) 3 weeks ago, well suited by the emphasis on speed at the trip. Consistent sort but this will demand more back down in trip.

Useful French hurdle/chase scorer who ended last term on the up for this yard, landing back-to-back handicaps at Chepstow (2m). Revised mark demands more but suspicion he could yet have more to offer given he remains pretty low mileage.

Useful hurdler. Didn't convince with his jumping sent chasing last term but gave cause for encouragement when chasing home Imperial Saint on return from a break at Aintree last month. Never figured in Cheltenham Grade 2 since but this rates more suitable.

Chase winner in France who opened his hurdling account on third start for Paul Nicholls in a slowly-run Plumpton novice (20.5f, soft) in March. However, disappointed both starts since, including when pulled up on debut for new yard at Cheltenham in October. Has something to prove back over fences.

Imperial Saint has made a fine start himself over larger obstacles and rates a lead threat in his hat-trick bid. Petit Tonnerre, back in handicap company, and Issar d'Airy are others fancied to be in the mix.
