One of three C&D winners in the field he took a similar type handicap on his return from a wind op at Chepstow last September off a 3lb low mark. Last seen out over hurdles (pulled up) he rarely runs a bad race on the Flat (strong traveller).

A winner at 7f/1m last season on turf he made little impression on his final two starts of last year both on the AW albeit in a tougher grade than he faces today. Ought to be capable of this mark; came second off his longest break so far.

Ran with credit when last seen over C&D (AW debut) having won twice on turf last year off lower marks than he faces today. Consistent sort who needed the run when faced with a similar length break before (stable debut); may be better for the run.

First run for this yard (one of the few to have had a run this year when with Hugo Palmer); first try on Tapeta (winner over 1m on Polytrack). First-time blinkers worn last time dispensed with (looked amiss; last of five), hard to train.

Lightly-raced sort (makes GB/stable debut), previously a 2yo winner at Gowran Park (7f, good). Showed little for the most part as a 3yo; well-beaten favourite when last seen. Makes his AW/handicap debut with something to prove, best watched.

Dual course winner (both AW wins coming here, one over this trip); proved himself a useful handicapper last year winning twice over 7f. Record after that a little patchy but looked unlucky when last seen (denied a run), no great record fresh.

Failed to win since gaining the second of his course victories over this trip early last year off a 3lb higher mark for Keith Dalgleish. Has won off a long break before; shaped well when last seen over this trip at Kempton; can start slowly.

One of three in the race for the yard who didn't really go on from his August Haydock win (1m, heavy) in three subsequent starts. Not seen out on AW (Polytrack) since 2017; ran poorly when last seen, looks to be one of the lesser lights.

25/1
Redcar 1m2f winner last September when assisted by a falling mark (travelled well). Shaped well on his only subsequent start at York (1m2f) although once again showing a questionable finishing effort; has won off a long break, lightly-raced on AW.

Appears to be the main contender from his yard although hardly a serial winner (2-23); yet to try Tapeta (AW win came on Fibresand). Two fair runs to his name off long breaks before but does have something to prove in this grade off this mark.

Yet to run here, dual Tapeta winner at Wolverhampton over 7f (only try at 1m came in a Group 3 on turf). Took a while to find his feet in handicaps (had the run of the race for last win); has found this grade/mark beyond him before, gone well fresh.

Amplification108
Age: 5|  Weight: 9-2| J: Callum Rodriguez| T: M Dods| OR:  83
11/2
Dual 7f turf winner when with Ed Dunlop, lightly-raced for this yard (runner-up both starts). Ran well last time after 10 months off over 7f here (stayed on well), return to 1m sure to suit, still off a fair mark and one to be interested in.

Forecasts

Jackstar (5/1), Star Shield (5/1), Amplification (11/2), Siglo Six (7/1), Lawmaking (15/2), Breanski (15/2), Tough Remedy (10/1), Al Erayg (12/1), Ours Puissant (20/1), Scottish Summit (25/1), Hillwalker (28/1), Mikmak (50/1)

Verdict

Hardly the easiest puzzle to solve as racing resumes after a 10-week hiatus; the market is sure to be informative. AMPLIFICATION is one of just two in the field to have raced this year and this return to 1m ought to suit and offset the 3lob rise the handicapper has given him for his second here in February. Tough Remedy is the other protagonist to have run this year and his form here stacks up well (13125) and he’s no stranger to winning off a break although he can be slow away. Breanski is another to have gone well here in the past but his record suggest he may need this. Both Scottish Summit and Jackstar (possible trip doubts) have scored off breaks while Star Shield should be considered.
  1. Amplification
  2. Tough Remedy
  3. Jackstar
