Narrowly beat Sabre in the National Stakes at Sandown in May (5f, good), but didn't do himself any favours with a slow start in the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes at Glorious Goodwood recently (fourth); carries a 3lb penalty.

Best effort so far when taking the 5f Listed Dragon Stakes at Sandown (good to firm) in July (Chapelli close up third) for which he earns a 3lb penalty; weakened to finish seventh of 11 in the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes latest.

Sharp and ready for action early season, winning on his second start at Lingfield in May (5f, good), beating the subsequent Windsor Castle Stakes winner Soldier's Call; less convincing since, including when failing to stay 6f at Deauville.

Improving with racing and has shown versatility in terms of trip and ground conditions; back-to-back Hamilton winner (5f) in June/July; likely to seek to attempt race prominently taking a significant step up in grade.

Runner-up to Wednesday's York nursery scorer Ginger Nut in the Super Sprint Stakes at Newbury (5f) in July - a race which is yielding plenty of winners (incl Red Balloons); off the mark next time in a Thirsk novice (5f, good to soft).

Green, but readily disposed of Moojim on debut at Newcastle (5f) in April before going down narrowly to Vintage Brut in the National Stakes (3lb better off for a neck); reliable since, including a fine second in the 5f Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot.

A decisive winner of a couple of modest Class 5 novice races at Lingfield and Chepstow (both 5f good to firm), but lost all chance at the start when left toiling upped in class at Glorious Goodwood (Molecomb Stakes) latest.

Has run reasonably on both previous starts at York and was a winner in a 5f novice at Pontefract last weekend (5/6f), but just six days on this rates as a much stiffer assignment; likely to struggle.

Speedy filly; made all to win on her first two outings in June (Carlisle and C&D), but lost her chance with a slow start in the Windsor Castle (20th of 28); closely matched with Well Done Fox on 5f Sandown (Listed) form.

5f Catterick fillies' novice winner on her penultimate start (beat today's rival Little Legs by 1¼L); ran well enough despite her 66/1 odds in the Molecomb Stakes latest (eighth), but held by a couple of these rivals on that evidence.

Well regarded by her trainer, she turned over a 4/9f on Northumberland Plate Day at Newcastle in June (5f novice), but was unfortunately no match for today's rival Deia Glory at Catterick next time; had wind surgery since that run.

Forecasts

Sabre (2/1), Vintage Brut (5/1), Chapelli (6/1), Well Done Fox (13/2), Street Parade (10/1), Glory Fighter (10/1), I Believe In You (12/1), Little Legs (16/1), Moojim (16/1), World Order (16/1), Deia Glory (50/1)

Verdict

Sabre is weighted to turn the tables on his National Stakes conqueror Vintage Brut, and has perhaps proved to be the most consistent of these horses so far during their fledgling careers. His Windsor Castle Stakes second to Soldier's Call is plenty strong enough form in the context of this race, but CHAPELLI is better than she demonstrated at Royal Ascot (slowly away) and might represent a shade more value at the projected odds. Her initial early pace is an asset at a sharp track like York (C&D winner), and she's also broadly on a par with Well Done Fox based on form.
