Closely matched with Fairyland on their Royal Ascot Albany Stakes form and whilst no match for subsequent Group 1 Prix Morny winner Pretty Pollyanna on her next start, she did manage a comfortable Group 3 win at Ascot (6f, good to firm) last month.

Excellent third placed effort in the Group 3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot in June (Angel's Hideaway fourth); showed obvious speed there and won the race on her side of the track; off since (for 62 days), whilst her main market rival has progressed.

Winner of both races since upped to 6f (Kempton & Newmarket) and there's no doubting that she'll produce the goods in a battle; upped significantly in grade so faces a tough task, especially given that she's as of yet unproven on a quick surface.

95,000 gns juvenile; late starter, but perhaps a shade unfortunate not to be unbeaten in two starts; sluiced in by 16L at odds of 1/4f in a 5f Class 4 novice contest at Pontefract (5f, good) last month; up in both trip and grade.

9/1
Kept decent company since winning on debut at Carlisle (5f) in June, adding a further success in the Group 3 Prix du Bois (5f, good to soft) at Deauville last month; midfield Super Sprint Stakes finish latest and this is tougher over a new trip.

£65,000 yearling; slowly away and always in rear (50/1) on debut in the 5f Listed Marygate Stakes here in May; off since, so it'll take a gargantuan training performance in order to make her competitive; holds little chance.

16/1
68,000 gns juvenile; drew obvious benefit from her racecourse debut second when returned to Beverley just three weeks later to land the odds (4/6f) in a 5f fillies' novice stakes (Cl 5) last month; up in trip and grade.

40/1
Boasts stacks of racing experience, and is a well travelled filly (has contested recent races in France); her sole win came in a 5f Class 5 fillies' novice stakes at Ripon in June, so she doesn't look good enough for this company.

The Mackem Bullet26
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: Ben Robinson| T: B Ellison| OR:  97| D
25/1
5L winner at Carlisle on her third start in June (6f, good to firm), but she bettered that performance since in finishing just under 3L third to today's rival Angel's Hideaway in an Ascot Group 3; respected, but unlikely to reverse those placings.

Forecasts

Fairyland (6/4), Angel's Hideaway (7/4), Little Kim (9/1), Firelight (11/1), Flawless Jewel (12/1), Queen Jo Jo (16/1), The Mackem Bullet (25/1), Stage Play (40/1), Orange Blossom (66/1)

Verdict

Flawless Jewel falls into the "could be anything bracket" after her demolition job over vastly inferior rivals at Pontefract last month, but Royal Ascot (and other) form-lines suggest that this should be a straightforward shootout between Angel's Hideaway and FAIRYLAND. Whilst the John Gosden-trained runner has shown her well-being since the Royal meeting and progressed to take a Group 3 prize latest (holds The Mackem Bullet), the selection has merely kept her box warm at Ballydoyle. However, Fairyland is clearly a very pacy filly and this track should suit her far better than Ascot, so on that basis alone, this 925,000 gns daughter of Kodiac gets the firm nod.
  1. Fairyland
  2. Angel's Hideaway
  3. Little Kim
