Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: R L Moore| T: R Hannon| OR:  97| CD
7/1
£30,000 yearling; effective on ground either side of good, and is now 2 from 3 after an improved and ready all the way win over C&D in July (beat Prince Elzaam by 2½L); tougher task, but holds obvious claims; trainer saddles four runners.

Oberyn Martell41
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: Charles Bishop| T: Eve Johnson Houghton| OR:  93| BF| D
20/1
£28,000 yearling; prominent racer who has done all of his racing so far on quick ground (5f-6f winner); needs to significantly better his recent course (5f) nursery fourth of six to Kodyanna; vulnerable.

Horse silk
Alfie Solomons20
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: T P Queally| T: R Spencer| OR:  83
16/1
Hasn't progressed as quickly as connections might've hoped since winning at Newcastle (5f) in June, but in all fairness he has generally run well enough; runner-up in a 6f nursery at Glorious Goodwood (20/1) earlier this month.
4
(17)
Horse silk
25/1
£36,000 yearling; runner up in a 6f Class 5 novice at Ffos Las on his second start, and the bare strength of that form leaves him with plenty to find.
5
(19)
Horse silk
20/1
£70,000 yearling; off the mark at the second time of asking at Brighton (7f) just over two weeks ago (despite appearing to be inexperienced); further improvement likely; drops in trip with his trainer saddling three other runners.

Celebrity Dancer45
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: K Stott| T: K A Ryan| OR:  88| D
8/1
£23,000 yearling; back from a short break with a gritty all the way win at Ayr (6f, good to firm) last month; considerably more to find, but evidently has that winning mentality instilled so couldn't be dismissed.
7
(20)
Horse silk
Concierge26
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: S De Sousa| T: George Scott| OR:  85
12/1
£61,000 yearling; on a gradual upward curve having justified favouritism on his last couple of starts (5f, Windsor/Lingfield); clearly has a sharp turn of foot and that's always likely to be a potent weapon if proving equally effective over further.

Horse silk
Dark Thunderv113
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: R Kingscote| T: Tom Dascombe| OR:  80| BF
50/1
£42,000 yearling; remains a maiden after five starts (5f-7f); fully capable of holding a prominent early position but shouldn't prove strong enough against these rivals on nursery form; back in trip with visor applied.
9
(8)
Horse silk
Dream of Honour12
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: D Allan| T: T D Easterby| OR:  80| BF
50/1
£70,000 yearling; getting closer with each start (3,2,2) and beaten just ½L on his first attempt at this trip at Ayr recently; should find a more suitable winning opportunity before too long, but not considered today.

Horse silk
Fanaarb114
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: Jim Crowley| T: W J Haggas| OR:  84| D
8/1
£240,000 yearling; 6f Leicester winner in May, but intimidated by the unbeaten Marhaba Milliar when edged out by a neck at Yarmouth latterly (6f, good to firm); progressing and sports obvious claims with first-time blinkers applied.

Jfoul29
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: Hector Crouch| T: S bin Suroor| OR:  87
25/1
Shown improvement since tackling a new trip (7f), winning run of the mill Chelmsford (AW) and Catterick (good to firm) contests; interesting to see exactly how he handles dropping back in trip.

(11)
Horse silk
Kodyannap125
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: P Hanagan| T: R A Fahey| OR:  100| C
7/1
£180,000 yearling; model of consistency (5f-6f) and already a course winner (nursery); never able to threaten Comedy when a 2L runner up in a 6f Deauville Group 3, but will surely relish the fierce early pace; fair chance with cheekpieces now added.

Horse silk
Magical Wishb113
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: Andrea Atzeni| T: R Hannon| OR:  84| BF| D
16/1
£48,000 yearling; looks vulnerable on what he's achieved so far, including when turned over at short odds on the AW at Wolverhampton (5f) recently; blinkers added with his trainer holding far better chances with other runners.
14
(15)
Horse silk
Masaru54
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: Tom Marquand| T: R Hannon| D
4/1
£38,000 yearling; sharp enough to make an emphatic winning debut at Windsor in June (6f, good to firm) beating subsequent Sandown nursery scorer Dark Shadow by 4L; further progress expected; represents a trainer who saddles four runners.
15
(14)
Horse silk
Pacino7
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: T Hamilton| T: R A Fahey| OR:  78| D
50/1
Stablemate of Kodyanna and Red Balloons; cost £48,000 as a yearling, and was a winner on Tapeta at Wolverhampton last week (6f), but this race represents a whole new challenge completely.
16
(16)
Horse silk
Raypeteafterme27
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: S Donohoe| T: D Carroll| OR:  79
66/1
Cheap yearling (£4,750), but his trainer is capable with his juveniles; shock 33/1 winner at Thirsk last month (5f, good to soft) beating today's rival Dream Of Honour by ¾L; unlikely to prove strong enough for this level of competition.
17
(10)
Horse silk
14/1
£85,000 yearling; closely related to 6f-1m+ winner Supersta; given an exceptional educational ride by Jamie Spencer to win narrowly on debut at Leicester in May (5f, good); off since and clearly more is required, but not dismissed lightly.
18
(3)
Horse silk
Gallovie11
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-6| J: Hollie Doyle| T: A Watson| D
16/1
£30,000 yearling; caught close home on debut in a 6f fillies' novice (Cl 4) at Newbury, but made no mistake next time at Windsor (4/6f); up in grade, but worthy of respect given her excellent handler Archie Watson.
19
(13)
Horse silk
On The Stage6
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-6| J: David Egan| T: E Walker| OR:  79
50/1
Beaten just under 1L when finishing fourth in the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury (5f), but below-par next time and that race might feasibly have left it's mark; must bounce back and stamina unproven in any case.
20
(12)
Horse silk
Red Balloons33
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-6| J: Barry McHugh| T: R A Fahey| OR:  87
33/1
Ready winner of a 5f fillies' novice stakes (Cl 5) at Nottingham in early July, and not beaten far despite finishing tenth of 25 in the Weatherbys Super Sprint since; stable second string behind Kodyanna.

Forecasts

Masaru (4/1), Kodyanna (7/1), He'zanarab (7/1), Celebrity Dancer (8/1), Fanaar (8/1), Concierge (12/1), Secret Venture (14/1), Alfie Solomons (16/1), Gallovie (16/1), Magical Wish (16/1), Big Baby Bull (20/1), Oberyn Martell (20/1), Jfoul (25/1), Barossa Red (25/1), Red Balloons (33/1), Pacino (50/1), Dream of Honour (50/1), Dark Thunder (50/1), On The Stage (50/1), Raypeteafterme (66/1)

Verdict

As one would expect for the prize money offered, a difficult to solve maximum field juvenile sprint. Richard Hannon holds a strong hand with the pick of his four runners being He'zanarab and Masaru. The former has the strongest form of that pair, but the latter could potentially be open to a greater degree of improvement. Kodyanna is a model of consistency and commands respect on her Deauville Group 3 second, whilst both Concierge (possesses a sharp turn of foot) and Secret Venture are live contenders despite the jump in trip and grade. However, the solution could lie with FANAAR, who lost little in defeat to the still unbeaten Marhaba Milliar at Yarmouth.
  1. Fanaar
  2. Kodyanna
  3. Concierge
