Considered by his trainer as a future Eider Chase contender and posted a couple of excellent efforts at Newcastle early last season (3m soft). It went a fraction wrong thereafter but he remains a promising staying chaser and is well suited by cut.

Has proved adept when the mud is flying, and she made a winning start for the yard over hurdles at Perth in April 2016 (3m), before a year off the track ahead of her chasing debut. Lacks experience over fences, but is a likeable mare.

Well suited by cut in the ground and hacked up on his chasing debut at Perth in August (2m4f soft). Solid since, including when 6¾L third to Midnight Shot in a good race at Uttoxeter latest, so is of obvious interest.

Recorded a second success over hurdles when a surprise winner over C&D last month (good to soft), and after a 7lb rise in his hurdles mark, the attention switches to fences for the first time. Potential, but others make more appeal.

Iain Jardine worked his magic on this once unconvincing gelding over the summer months (Flat and C&D hurdles winner). Has moved on again and makes his second start for this yard, and his first over fences since November 2016.

Forecasts

Beau Bay (15/8), Bigirononhiship (9/4), Princess Tara (3/1), Champagne Chaser (11/2), Vercingetorix (28/1)

Verdict

An intriguing contest despite the small field, with a few of the horses in the line up appearing to have fairly decent futures over fences. Princess Tara lacks much experience over the larger obstacles, but certainly stays well and is a likeable mare for a much respected trainer. Beau Bay arrives in excellent order, and a reproduction of his latest Uttoxeter third to Midnight Shot should be just about good enough. However, it is the sizeable BIGIRONONHISHIP who rates as the selection. His trainer has spoken about him glowingly as a future Eider Chase contender (yard won that race in 2016 with Rockin Blues), and he basically proved himself to be a reliable and promising young staying chasing last season.
