Looked useful when winning at Hereford in January (2m soft) and now back to a winning mark. Possibly failed to stay over 2m4f at Worcester latest, but might need the ground softer than this ideally.

An infrequent winner (1 from 25) and the various odds and ends of headgear tells a tale (first time cheek-pieces today), but conditions hold no fears and is better treated over fences than over hurdles.

Basically hasn't progressed as anticipated after making a winning stable debut at Uttoxeter in late July (2m4f good to soft), but perhaps the handicapper over-reacted slightly, and a switch to fences for the first time is in order.

Dual hurdles winner for Alan King, who lost little in defeat when going down narrowly to Ashkova (a stablemate of Miss Spent) at Sedgefield in August (2m+ good), and has been found the ideal opportunity to go one better from the same mark.

Probably flattered by his placed form figures, but in all fairness has clashed with some half decent rivals over fences. Remains a maiden after ten attempts, and failed to complete (fell) on his last start over fences at Stratford last month.

Forecasts

Pemba (85/40), Spoilt Rotten (7/2), Matchaway (9/2), Miss Spent (9/2), McCabe Creek (5/1)

Verdict

Fergal O'Brien appears to have found the ideal opportunity for the former Alan King trained PEMBA to go one better over fences than at Sedgefield in August. Good ground is probably helpful to this mare, as she appears not to want a single yard further than 2m, and this straightforward track presents her with the best winning chance that she's ever likely to get over fences, so hopefully she'll take full advantage and make it sixth time lucky over the larger obstacles.
  1. Pemba
  2. Miss Spent
  3. Mccabe Creek
