Made the most of a handful of decent opportunities to rack up a four-timer earlier this year. Up significantly in the weights as a result but this not the strongest event and quite possible he has more to offer. Worth a betting check.

Last won in March 2015 and seems to be losing interest now he's in the twilight of his career. Still only 3lb lower than last winning rating and not particularly well handicapped either. Others preferred.

Three wins on the Flat last year but off the boil towards the end of his time with his former yard. Best watched on return to Jumps for a new trainer.

Well held when unseating his rider on stable debut latest and hard to get enthusiastic after that effort. Well handicapped but a big leap of faith required.

Still a maiden (both codes from 18 previous starts) and makes very limited appeal on recent form. Risky option even for a place on recent evidence.

Narrow margin winner at Fontwell last month but showed a likable attitude to respond to pressure. More on here under a 3lb heavier burden but this is only slightly more competitive, so could be a decent betting proposition again here. .

Won over 2m at Huntingdon on his penultimate start but reverted to type subsequently. Claims on the best of his efforts but too inconsistent to forward with any real confidence; even though he won this from 9lb higher last year.

Only ever won on the Flat but has some solid placed efforts to his name over jumps. Gone well over C&D (for today's pilot) in the past, so no forlorn hope. One to bear in mind if the market vibes are positive.

Won over 1m2f at Bath last month and reverts to hurdles on a handy mark. Another worth noting in the betting even though he is yet to actually get his head in front or even be placed from 7 previous starts over timber.

Less exposed in handicaps than many of these and may have more to offer from a potentially lenient mark. Wouldn't be suited by much rain if the weather took a turn for the worst.

Little worthwhile form in the book and hard to see this fellow being one capable of providing a handsome return from a speculative punt.

Time on his side but very modest on the Flat. Has hinted that he can find his level over hurdles, though. A risky option and still learning, so may be best to simply take a note of his finishing position and overall performance on this occasion.

Kereman14
Age: 3|  Weight: 10-3| J: Ian Popham| T: D Skelton| OR:  95

Making modest strides but a bold show from Lord E earlier in the day would boost his form claims. Another that is still learning and is thus unexposed. Worth a betting check at least.

Orthodox Lad131
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-1| J: James Banks| T: G Harris| OR:  75| D

Only one start since last April suggest a problem surfaced somewhere along the line. Return to action at Warwick in May did little to suggest he is best when fresh and looks one to be wary of again this time up.

Forecasts

Camakasi (7/2), Magical Thomas (4/1), Too Many Diamonds (11/2), Kereman (7/1), Rob Robin (8/1), Osgood (14/1), Kenyan (16/1), Orthodox Lad (16/1), Royal Etiquette (16/1), Maid Of Tuscany (20/1), Sixties Idol (20/1), Kastani Beach (25/1), My Lord (40/1), Callaghan (66/1)

Verdict

Modest stuff, but it may be worth chancing that MAGICAL THOMAS has more to offer than most and, having shown a willing attitude last time out, he would be dangerous to underestimate under just a 3lb higher mark. Last year's winner Osgood is unpredictable but could easily figure prominently if in the mood today. However, he has a habit of throwing in the odd stinker, so it may be down to stablemates Too Many Diamonds and the unexposed Kereman to fight it out as the best of the rest.
