Should benefit from return to AW, went close at Newcastle in June over this trip. Has one win from one appearance here in 2016 (over 6f) and rated 1lb lower now.

French import ran a pair of promising races on AW at Chelmsford / Newcastle late last year, including this trip, not looked as good on turf recently (won at Nottingham in June) but on a promising mark for this switch. One to note in the betting.

Went close over this trip at Kempton on final start for Mark Johnston last month, also went close in June off this rating over C&D. Could go well on first outing for new connections.

Now an 8yo and has had his issues, just seven starts on the AW so far, winning at Newcastle in February over the trip and twice going well over C&D either side of that outing. Off 201 days since and has joined this handler.

Has been around the houses in terms of trainers, beaten ¾L in second over C&D last month on first start for this yard, is one of two for the trainer here and 5lb claim appears to give him a decent shout.

Has won here over further but no win now since March 2016, most of his efforts so far this year have been laboured and looks one to give a watching brief to for now.

Two AW wins (from eight) have come over 6f but finished just 1¾L in arrears on sole try at this C&D previously, tailed off in both turf runs this summer, the return to AW needs to spark a turnaround.

Six-time career winner but hasn't clicked now since 2015, out of form recently and beaten 10L over C&D in a claimer last month. Few positives at the moment seemingly.

Yet to win in eight starts but has his merits, was 1L third of 12 over this trip at Kempton last time attempting to come from off the pace off this mark. Yard in good form and cannot be dismissed.

All four career successes have come on artificial surfaces, including over C&D in September 2015. Plenty of pace (three wins over 5f) and finished third here over 6f last month off this mark. Claim makes him interesting here going up in trip.

AW winner in France for Andre Fabre in 2016 but four runs in Britain to date have been desperately poor and hard to make any case for despite rapidly decreasing mark.

Won at a lower grade over C&D in September last year, remains 4lb higher now. Runner-up in 7f claimer here last month, first two starts for this yard on turf have been tame. Hard to fancy.

Forecasts

Envisaging (7/4), Kingsley Klarion (6/1), Miracle Garden (8/1), Energia Flavio (9/1), Florencio (9/1), Rouge Nuage (12/1), Red Touch (14/1), Alkashaaf (16/1), Accurate (20/1), Zapper Cass (22/1), Mehdi (28/1), Sophisticated Heir (33/1)

Verdict

Plenty have their chance in this field and it might be worth chancing the much-travelled ENERGIA FLAVIO on the back of an encouraging start for this yard last month, beaten only ¾L over C&D. He's up in class now but his 5lb claimer gives him a good opportunity and there is a chance his latest handler can squeeze a bit more from him at a price. At the front of the market Envisaging makes appeal on the back of a solid effort over the trip at Kempton when trying to make up too much ground late in the piece while Miracle Garden and the returning Mehdi are others worth paying attention to.
  1. Energia Flavio
  2. Envisaging
  3. Miracle Garden
