Took advantage of a reduced mark to win over hurdles at Carlisle in May finding plenty for pressure as is usual for him. His runs since have been a rather mixed bag but he is capable over fences. This mark back over fences may test him but he does have a very capable conditional taking the ride.

Returns from a long absence (yard are capable of preparing one off an absence) after showing some form over fences before. Needs to build on his last run (no match for an easy winner) at Exeter but is 11lb below his highest winning mark with the handicapper giving him a chance here.

Now runs in a brand new headgear combination with a tongue-tie and cheekpieces going on for the first time in a bid to find the key to this one. Shown very little since coming from France (useful over hurdles there) and his mark is falling dramatically but can you really rely on him?

Form can be rather in-and-out although he was more in than out when nearly ending his long losing run over C&D on his penultimate start off what was a career low mark. Failed to back that run up last time when first off the bridle and hopes are pinned on a repeat of his run here.

Been around for ages and a four-time winner around here with his chase form reading very well (217111). He certainly cashed in on a lowly mark when winning here last time out (beat Boss Des Mottes) and gets on well with today's pilot. He's never certain to produce two performances alike but is more likely to do so around here than most places.

Losing run is stretching into double figures now but he has run well from out of the handicap on his last two starts and at least he runs off his proper mark now. Generally likes to force the pace and should be able to do so here and not without a chance in a race with few solid options.

Forecasts

Boss Des Mottes (5/2), Endeavor (11/4), Domtaline (7/2), Pershing (4/1), Polkarenix (5/1), Red Riverman (8/1), Accessallareas (9/1)

Verdict

This doesn’t look a particularly deep race and there are few that could win on their best form but do have a little to prove like Domtaline and Red Riverman who are back over fences and from an absence respectively. Boss Des Mottes comes into the equation on his second over C&D while Accessallareas may get a soft lead and that would help his winning chance. ENDEAVOR needs no introduction here though and he loves this idiosyncratic track where course specialists frequently shine and his mark still looks workable especially with Brian Hughes doing the steering.
  1. Endeavor
  2. Accessallareas
  3. Red Riverman
