Classy multiple Group race winner who has produced some of his best performances at this track. A 20/1 winner of the Group 2 Greenlands Stakes in similar conditions over C&D last month (beat Only Mine 1½L). More to do with that rival at these weights and weakened late on over 7F in the Ballychorus Stakes at Leopardstown latest.

Showed himself to be a useful juvenile in 2015 by winning the 7F Group 2 Futurity Stakes here in August of that year. Finished eighth of thirteen to Galileo Gold in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket in the spring of 2016 before a tame effort in the Jersey Stakes. Off the track for over twelve months and interesting to see if he retains his clear ability, but can only be watched for now.

Doesn't win all that often (2 from 47 career), but has run some solid enough races in fair handicaps over the years. Found wanting at Listed level over 7F at Naas in mid May, and likely to struggle at the weights once more today.

Has C&D winning form in the Group 3 Renaissance Stakes in August 2015 (good to firm) and during his younger years was an even classier performer. Didn't appear to be the force of old for the majority of 2016 despite winning on the AW at Dundalk in August (6F handicap). Struggled in Dubai throughout the 2017 Carnival and now returns to action following a break.

Landed the Group 3 Lacken Stakes at Naas in May 2016 (beat Washington DC) and has a fairly solid record at this track during her 15 race career. Not able to beat Gordon Lord Byron in the Greenlands Stakes over C&D in late May, but produced another solid effort subsequently when a head runner up to Penny Pepper in a Group 3 contest three weeks ago, and a real chance of reversing earlier form with Gordon Lord Byron on better terms.

A winner of five of her 19 career starts, and notched a 6F Navan/Cork handicap double earlier this year. Ran a blinder from a higher mark over C&D when second of 20 to Rattling Jewel in a strong handicap here in May, but seemingly held today by Only Mine if judged solely on her first try in Group company latest.

Forecasts

Only Mine (1/1), Gordon Lord Byron (4/1), Peticoatgovernment (9/2), Herald The Dawn (8/1), Master Speaker (12/1), Moviesta (14/1)

Verdict

A small field for this Listed contest, but a mix of older horses clashing with either improving handicappers or more talented younger Group performers. Gordon Lord Byron repelled the challenge of the young protagonist when seeing off the filly ONLY MINE in the Group 2 Greenlands Stakes over C&D last month. However, he's been beaten since (admittedly over 7F) whilst the Carroll trained filly narrowly failed to reel in Penny Pepper in a C&D Group 3 contest three weeks ago. She is better off at the weights today so can be fancied to extract her revenge, with the once classy Moviesta and the returning Herald The Dawn expected to be stronger in future races.

  3. Moviesta
