Sunday's round-up & results
Our snooker expert Simon Crawford's 25/1 pre-tournament selection Shaun Murphy took a step closer to claiming the Evergrande China Championship on Sunday.
Long odds-on to see off Zhou Yuelong, the 35-year-old lived up to his billing in recording a 5-2 victory to book his place in the semi-finals, where he will meet Ali Carter.
Murphy, who is now 5/4 favourite for the title with Sky Bet, went 2-0 down but got on the scoreboard in landing a tight third frame (58 v 51) and didn't look back with breaks of 55, 50 and 100 helping to secure victory.
Carter beat Fergal O'Brien by the same scoreline. He hit a century break of 112 in the first frame and took the second 68-27 before O'Brien hit back with a break of 124 to make it 2-1 and then levelling in taking the fourth by 59-7.
Carter then compiled breaks of 65 and and 76 to restore his two frame lead before sealing his place in the final four.
Luca Brecel took the scalp of Ronnie O'Sullivan when edging a nine frame thriller.
O'Sullivan raced into a 2-0 lead with the help of a break of 85 in the opener but the Belgian fought back to take the third 76-42 before losing the fourth frame to nil.
A remarkable turnaround then ensued with century breaks of 110 and 103 drawing him within one and the 22-year-old from Dilsen-Stokkem stunned the Rocket by going on to level before winning the last 57-37 to send the tournament favourite crashing out.
Brecel will face Li Hang for a place in the final after the 26-year-old defeated Mark Williams 5-3.
Li Hang produced one of the few breaks of note in a tight encounter when clocking up 103 in the seventh frame and he secured his place in the final four with a 69-1 scoreline in the eighth.
