International Championship: Mark Allen beats Judd Trump 6-5 to reach last four

Mark Allen overcame Judd Trump in a final-frame decider to reach the last four of snooker's International Championship.

The Northern Irishman displayed composure to overcome his opponent, who had levelled things up with a 110 break in the 10th frame before losing the decisive one.

Allen was never behind in the match after taking the opener, a break of 117 in frame three his highlight.

A beaten finalist in the event three years ago, he now progresses to face Yan Bingtao, who registered breaks of 99 and 123 on his way to a comprehensive 6-2 victory over John Higgins.

It will be the first of surely many semi-final appearances at this level for the 17-year-old from China, who saw off Ronnie O'Sullivan in the opening round and added another multiple world champion to his list of scalps on Thursday.

In the other half of the draw, Mark Selby will face Martin Gould after seeing off Robbie Williams 6-2.

Although Williams made the sole century in the match, Selby was consistently ruthless among the balls, registering five breaks of 50-plus including one of 93 to seal victory.

He'll face Martin Gould for a place in the final, after the 36-year-old held off a fightback from Ali Carter to win 6-5.

Training 5-3, Carter levelled things up to force a deciding frame but Gould regathered himself, scoring an 81 break to finally put the game to bed.

Sky Bet make Selby their 10/11 favourite to defend his title, from Allen at 11/4, Bingtao at 4/1 and Gould at 9/1.
