Italy international Michele Campagnaro to be released by Exeter

Italy international centre Michele Campagnaro is to be released from his contract with Gallagher Premiership leaders Exeter.

Campagnaro, 25, will captain his country against Six Nations champions Ireland in Chicago next week.

He joined the Chiefs from Italian club Benetton in 2015.

"Exeter Chiefs have agreed to release Michele Campagnaro from his playing contract with the Gallagher Premiership club from October 31," Exeter said in a statement.

"The Italy international, who joined the club in the summer of 2015 from Benetton Treviso, will then become a free agent."

Campagnaro has been linked with a possible move to Exeter's Premiership rivals Wasps.

He made 27 appearances for the Chiefs, scoring nine tries.
