This week's action gets underway in West Yorkshire on Thursday night, and Wakefield are fancied for victory when they welcome leaders St. Helens.

Saints looked unstoppable for large parts of the campaign, with just two defeats to Leeds and Trinity preventing them from a perfect regular season.

However, the last two weeks have been a struggle. There was a hefty 16-35 defeat to Catalans in the semi-final of the Challenge Cup before Huddersfield visited a secured victory by a four-point margin.

Ben Barba, a real star for Saints during his time at the club, is rumoured to be departing at the end of the current season and his performances in recent showings haven't lived up to expectations.

You question whether the wheels are starting to fall off at the crucial time. As they have done twice already, Justin Holbrook's men bounced back from defeat with convincing wins.

However, against Huddersfield, they struggled to get going and didn't show signs of being on the right path to victory.

There's value in backing a potential Wakefield victory here - which can be found at odds-against around the 11/8 mark.

When it comes to looking for Trinity try scorers - Reece Lyne looks a tad overpriced at 11/4 to strike anytime.

He finds himself as Wakefield's fourth top try scorer so far this season with nine - most recently scoring in the 72-10 hammering of Hull in their last showing in front of their own fans.

Lyne has also scored twice in the last three games at Belle Vue - and he is more than equipped to cross the line again here.

The Trinity man is a tough player for the opposition to come up against too. His 97 tackle busts this season highlight that - and also rank him as the fourth highest for the league in that division.

The centre also has extra-incentive after being called into the England Knights performance squad.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Lyne said: "There’s a tour at the end of the year to Papua New Guinea and Australia and that’s something I want to be involved in, so I want to have a good, strong finish to the season and, hopefully, I can get on that plane."

This should be a close encounter, and Wakefield find themselves at 8/11 with +4 on the handicap if you prefer that safety net.

Best bet: Reece Lyne to anytime try scorer for Wakefield v St. Helens at 11/4
