Jack Owens leaves St Helens to join Sheffield

Winger or full-back Jack Owens has played his last match for St Helens after moving on loan to Championship club Sheffield Eagles for the rest of the season.

The 22-year-old former Widnes player, who is out of contract this year, has made just five Super League appearances for Saints this season and he slipped further down the pecking order with the signing of Ben Barba.

"Jack has been a true professional this season," Saints chief executive Mike Rush said. "Despite not having a great deal of first team game time, his attitude has been first class and he has worked hard.

"He has set a fine example to the younger players this season, particularly in his performances for our reserves, and the move allows him to gain more game time. We wish Jack all the best at the Eagles and in his future career."
