Forecasts

Dulas (5/2), Danyah (11/2), Blackcastle Storm (6/1), Always Fearless (7/1), Alben Spirit (8/1), Jamais Assez (8/1), Soaring Star (10/1), Abstemious (11/1), Silver Mission (12/1), Mr Jones And Me (20/1), Black Caspian (22/1), Fanzone (33/1)

Verdict

Dulas dominated when winning on the AW at Newcastle (6f), and although a noteworthy handicap debutant he could face competition for the lead from the likes of Danyah and Abstemious. Therefore, in a typically competitive three-year-old handicap the safest option is Richard Fahey's ALBEN SPIRIT. Assuming that Tony Hamilton can get early cover (drawn on the flank) aboard this Camacho gelding, it's perfectly feasible that his stamina (dam and half-brother were both winners over 7f) will come into play in the closing stages of the race. If applying the same logic, the Southwell scorer Blackcastle Storm must also be shortlisted.
  1. Alben Spirit
  2. Blackcastle Storm
  3. Jamais Assez
