Verdict

No strong opinion is offered, and if this race represents the Boxing Day 'getting out stakes' then trouble almost certainly lies ahead. Erick Le Rouge is progressive but continues on an upward path in the weights so probably should be taken on for win purposes towards the head of the market. Therefore, a couple of better priced alternatives are the unexposed Penn Lane and the former Willie Mullins-trained MONTALBANO. The selection is making his first start over hurdles since winning at Punchestown (2m) in April 2017, with his new connections no doubt keen to be making immediate positive in-roads towards recouping their £52,000 purchase price.
  1. Montalbano
  2. Penn Lane
  3. Mellow Ben
