Verdict

A competitive 14-runner handicap in which the interesting horse is the returning three-year-old Character Witness. However, plenty of others hold fairly similar claims based upon more recent C&D form, so feasibly might have a race-fitness advantage tonight. Parnassian was disqualified after winning at Windsor last month, but has knocked at the door since, with his latest close-up fifth to Kamra (6f) possibly given a timely form boost by the runner-up Outrage (runs at Newcastle on Tuesday). However, the selection is the unexposed (and now cheekpieced) LA MAQUINA who finished hot on the heels (fourth) behind the re-opposing winner Redgrave over C&D 25 days ago.
  1. La Maquina
  2. Parnassian
  3. Character Witness
