Verdict

Jfoul and Arden Warrior set reasonable but achievable standards and as such MASSAM is taken to make a winning debut for the Johnston/De Sousa combination. The son of Dubawi is out of an AW Group 3 winning mare and it is well-documented how well the stable's juveniles have been faring lately. Chance was supported on debut but, like many in that race, was swept aside by Calyx. However, he gave the impression he would improve for the run and the extra furlong.
