MOMELLA impressed when winning an Irish point-to-point and delivered on the promise with a highly enthusiastic effort to win at Newton Abbot over an extended 2m5f on debut under rules. Her proven appreciation of this sort of trip and, given that she gets a very handy 7lb from her main rival, swings the pendulum in her favour in a disappointingly small turn out for the finale.
Brahms De Clermont, who cost €68,000 as a three-year-old, made good strides in bumpers before winning in good style at Exeter on his penultimate start. Paul Nicholls' gelding may improve for the step up in trip but was well held last time and faces a stiff test to put the record straight.
Mullaghboy needs everything to go his way to get one over on a promising couple of rivals.
