The key form line with regards this contest is last month's 5f Pontefract median auction maiden stakes won by Jonboy. In that contest,
Harrogate (third) was caught close home and finished 1¾L in front of the fourth placed
Militia. Despite carrying identical weights, a reversal of placings is a distinct possibility assuming that Paul Hanagan can harness the Richard Fahey trained runner early in this race. He perhaps has been doing a little too much early doors so far, and a slight change of tactics could produce that all important stronger finishing effort. However, in a generally weak contest by York standards, a chance is taken on
GULLANE ONE. He undoubtedly needs to step up on both of his previous efforts, but isn't fully exposed just yet, and the suspicion is that a slight drop in trip coupled with less testing conditions (good to soft) might just prove ideal.
