Verdict

Staxton defied all the usual pre-race comments about Tim Easterby's runners needing a couple of outings when beating a decent field at Haydock and this could be a good opportunity for him to follow up at his local track. However, defying penalties in these races is never as easy as it may appear and therefore HEY JONESY, who also ran really well on debut in defeat, might be able to make the most of the 6lb he receives from the topweight. The Throstles is another who belied his debut odds and could pick up some money this time, though the potential fly in the ointment looks to be the nicely-bred debutante Barefoot Baby, who represents top connections and is from a family of juvenile success.
  1. Hey Jonesy
