Verdict

Much like the opener, a strong numerical hand is held by local trainer James Moffatt. However, his three runners may once more have to play second or third fiddle to others, with Craig Star much respected despite possibly being better suited by further. Lorcan Murtagh takes a valuable 6lb from his back (with 3lb of that coming because he takes the mount for his new boss Donald McCain). However, BEENO gets the nod. He had the misfortune to bump into Lady Buttons when heavily backed at Newcastle on his penultimate start in January, and fresh from a three month break, he looks the horse to be with as the ground remains soft, and with an added bonus of a useful 10lb taken from his back by the talented Robert Hogg.
