Verdict

A good case can be made for most in this. Preference is for ZORBA THE GREEK now that he tackles a trip which his Irish form suggests will be more to his liking. A mile round Chelmsford is not the track for a horse who needs further and to be produced late. Nevertheless, two good runs there have suggested a win is imminent and a top tactician has been booked to ride. Rod Millman has a good recent record at this fixture and Isis Blue looks interesting towards the foot of the handicap form a mark which is within his range. Spinart and Capton are interesting on their handicap debuts. Both are having their first runs of the season and a bigger threat may come from the Gary Moore pair Etaad and Light of Air. The former does not have an attractive record on turf but it would be fair to say he is in better shape now than was the case on his previous starts. That history allows him to race off a lower mark than his AW rating and a good claimer adds further value. Jockey bookings suggest Light of Air is the yard's main hope. He looked a tricky ride at Kempton last time where appeared not to stay a longer trip. There should be plenty of cover in this big field and the right man is on board to coax the best from him.
  1. Zorba The Greek
  2. Light Of Air
  3. Isis Blue
