For Carmel (5/2), The Church Gate (7/2), Mauna Kea (5/1), Highest Benefit (7/1), Be My Vinnie (8/1), Gold Smoke (8/1), Rare Legend (9/1), Telenor (16/1), Willow Grange (20/1), Dontdelay (20/1), Kilclooney Wood (22/1), Carrow Queen (25/1), Flemish Maid (25/1), Mount Masada (28/1), Steak And Spuds (33/1), Fiddlers Way (33/1), Supreme Steel (50/1)

Verdict

A speculative chance is taken with THE CHURCH GATE after he put up a notable effort when runner-up at Thurles last week. That was over 2m and this is clearly a journey into the unknown but if that form was a sign of things to come he should be very capable off a 1lb higher mark assuming no stamina issues arise. For Carmel went close over this trip at Clonmel last time out and is fancied to play a part despite carrying 6lb extra today. Rare Legend should do better back hurdling while Be My Vinnie is another stepping up in trip with some positives in his locker. Gold Smoke's most recent effort was much improved while Mauna Kea would be interesting if getting in for a first handicap start.
  1. The Church Gate
  2. For Carmel
  3. Rare Legend
