Verdict

A surprisingly healthy turnout for a round course race at Newcastle in which the draw could come into play. An interesting race to assess with winning hurdler Craggaknock making his AW debut with some fair Flat turf form in the book. L'Inganno Felice is strong as an ox and probably well up to carrying top-weight, but much of his improvement has been on the Fibresand at Southwell despite seemingly also relishing a step up to this trip. Codeshare is a smooth traveller who makes his handicap debut, but this looks a baptism of fire with C&D winner LAC LEMAN fairly treated with a 2lb rise. It's feasible that he'll need some luck delivered late by Graham Lee, but he'll be finishing strongest of all from off the pace and is taken to follow up for Northumberland based owner David Armstrong. 1. Lac Leman 2. Craggaknock 3. L'inganno Felice
