Verdict

Aengus will deservedly be well fancied to follow up last week's Wetherby success. However, when tackling distances from 2m4f upwards, he has failed to see out the trip and his breeding also suggests a trip like this is beyond his liking. Bruce Almighty looks the handicap pick off a mark below that which saw him win at Carlisle last March. He has mixed form at 3m which also suggests he needs to be ridden to get the trip. With such a big weight on his back, he is passed over in favour of TURTLE CASK who would be hard to recommend on his recent form, but conditions here look perfect for him. With the hope that first-time blinkers have the desired effect, he should represent value in a race where all have questions to answer. 1. Turtle Cask 2. Bruce Almighty 3. Aengus
