Probably isn't the force of old but fared better when fourth of 10 in a handicap hurdle (18/1) at Warwick (26f, soft) 17 days ago, ridden entering home straight and one pace late on. Interesting to see if blinkers have a positive impact now dropping in grade into a 0-100 handicap.

Won a bumper here and made a sound start over hurdles, off the mark in a Hereford maiden in May. Seems to be in the grip of the handicapper, latest sixth of 13 in a handicap hurdle at Ascot (21.6f, good to soft) 28 days ago but step up in trip may well bring out some more improvement.

Versatile performer landed a 23.3f Uttoxeter handicap in May followed by a 2m Worcester novice a month later. Has found things tougher since but he's now only 2 lb above his last winning mark returning from a 102-day break today, although he is 0 from 4 returning from breaks of over 60 days or more.

Irish point winner who took his form up a notch after 8 months off when third of 11 on handicap debut at Wincanton (24.7f, good) in October, pulling clear of rest and shaping as though he'll have no trouble landing a race from this sort of mark. Cheekpieces on and should be in the mix again.

Course winner. Third in an 8-runner handicap at Wetherby (2m, heavy) last month. finished strongly. Confirmed the promise of that run when third of 7 in handicap hurdle at this course (18.6f, good to soft, 12/1) 22 days ago but stamina to prove at this trip (unplaced on 3 runs over 23f or more).

Scored over C&D in December and resumed winning ways latest when winning a 14-runner handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (23.3f, heavy) 17 days ago, looking an out-and-out stayer. 8 lb hike for that and up in grade so this will be tougher, although arrives in good heart.

Runner-up in Irish points. Best effort in novice hurdles when fourth of 6 at Market Rasen (20.5f) last month (carried head slightly awkwardly). Failed to back that up when ninth of 12 in novice hurdle at Carlisle (17f, soft) 33 days ago and now significantly up in trip for handicap bow.

Better on last two starts without hood. Opened his account at Hereford (19.7f) in March, following a breathing operation. Ran an eye-catching race after 10 months off when second of 13 in a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (22.2f, heavy) 28 days ago, shaping as if the extra furlong will suit. Player.

Forecasts

Ithaka (11/4), Another Lord (4/1), Caher Roes Den (9/2), Stay If U Want To (6/1), Belvedere Blast (8/1), Shengai Enki (10/1), Midnightreflection (10/1), Monsieur Le Fuzz (12/1), R Bernard (33/1)

Verdict

ANOTHER LORD's latest effort was an eye-catching one, a fast-finishing third following a 10-month absence, and he's entitled to build on that run and can land the spoils here. The lightly-raced Caher Roes Den shaped well on handicap debut and rates a serious danger, while course-winner Stay If U Want To is not ruled out on his first try at this trip.
