Cost £115,000 after finishing runner-up in an Irish point last March. Market confidence significant for a top stable which boasts a 31% strike rate with bumper runners this term.

£85,000 Irish point winner who made a bright start under Rules when second of 6 in bumper at Bangor (17f, heavy) on rules debut in October. Looks sure to make his presence felt again.

Passing Glance gelding. Half-brother to 1¾m winner Artic Nel. Dam 2m hurdle winner. Stable 8-62 in bumpers in the last 5 seasons. Probably best watched on debut.

Held every chance when falling at the last in his sole Irish point and made a promising debut under Rules when 8 lengths third of 8 in a Newbury bumper (2m, good to soft) in November. Should go well again.

17/2, shaped like a stayer when fourth of 10 in bumper at Southwell (2m, good to soft) in May.

Dartmouth gelding. Dam, fair 23f/25f hurdle winner, half-sister to useful hurdler/chaser (stayed 21f) Getareason. The stable had a first-time-out bumper winner here last month so a market move would be interesting.

Forecasts

Cobbler's Boy (13/8), Douglas Hyde (10/3), Bara Tara (7/2), Wandering Ego (6/1), Woodythewoodpecker (14/1), Mexican Stan (16/1), Kind Intention (16/1), Saddlers Dream (66/1)

Verdict

Dan Skelton has been doing really well in bumpers this season so his Irish point recruit COBBLER'S BOY gets the vote, with confidence in his chance increased should the betting vibes be strong. Wandering Ego and Douglas Hyde showed promise when placed in bumpers this autumn and are the obvious threats unless the market speaks strongly in favour of one of the newcomers.
