Mark Of Gold16
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-10| J: Caoilin Quinn| T: G & J Moore| OR:  142| C| D
Prolific winning hurdler who, despite not being an obvious chaser on looks or pedigree, made the perfect start in this sphere in 4-runner Noel Novices' Chase at Ascot (18.8f) just over 2 weeks ago, fortunate after runner-up made a mess of the last. Giving stacks of weight away but can progress.

Lord Of Thundert130
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-9| J: Brendan Powell| T: J Tizzard| OR:  127| D
On the up over hurdles last season, scoring twice in novice company at Wincanton. Looks the part for chasing and was making a promising start in this sphere when coming down 2 out at Cheltenham on return. Respectable fourth at Exeter since and remains one to view positively. Tongue tie applied.

Classic Anthem37
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-5| J: H Cobden| T: J R Boyle| OR:  117
Expensive recruit from Irish points who scored over hurdles at Sandown in December 2023. Promising start over fences back from 6 months off when second of 4 at same course in November but not so good at Newbury (16.4f, good to soft) later that month. Bounce back needed from 6 lb out of weights.

Forecasts

Mark Of Gold (4/7), Lord Of Thunder (5/2), Classic Anthem (6/1)

Verdict

Joe Tizzard and Brendan Powell combined to take this last year, and they can repeat the trick with LORD OF THUNDER, who ran respectably at Exeter last month and remains a chaser to view positively with a first-time tongue tie applied. Mark of Gold, who took advantage of Personal Ambition's last-fence blunder to make a winning start over fences at Ascot just over a fortnight ago, rates as the obvious danger.
