3/1
Low-mileage 9-y-o who took his form up a notch when gaining a first win over fences at Haydock in April 2023. Shaped as if as good as ever after returning from 19 months off when third of 5 in handicap at Windsor (24.2f, good to soft) 3 weeks ago and entitled to come on from that.

11/4
Back-to-back C&D winner in the second half of last season but he ended that campaign on a downer and started this one with another tame effort. However, got back on track when runner-up at Lingfield (20f, soft) just under 4 weeks ago and may well build on that back here.

6/1
Won a pair of handicap chases around 3m last winter and reappeared with an encouraging second over C&D in November. Ran poorly at Exeter since but fancied to leave that effort behind back down in trip.

3/1
Fairly useful Flat/hurdles winner who has the size to make a chaser and built on his debut over fences when off the mark easily at Exeter in November. Moody display when well-beaten third at Wincanton (20.2f, soft) since so no surprise to see first-time blinkers applied.

8/1
Lightly-raced maiden who made a positive return to the fray when third of 18 in 19.5f course handicap in November. Similar form when mid-division at Exeter (21.6f, heavy) since and now attentions are turned to the larger obstacles (third in Irish point). Tongue tie added to usual cheekpieces.

Forecasts

Thor De Cerisy (11/4), Gyenyame (3/1), Jeffery's Cross (3/1), Enjoy Your Life (6/1), Heros De Romay (8/1), Captain Boudet (8/1)

Verdict

The Skelton team has taken things up a notch in recent weeks and JEFFERY'S CROSS can provide them with yet another winner after an encouraging reappearance third at Windsor after 19 months off recently. Thor de Cerisy was a dual C&D winner in the second half of last season, so he heads up the dangers returned to this venue, with Enjoy Your Life rounding off the shortlist provided he can put a dismal effort behind him.
