Irish point/maiden hurdle winner who showed much-improved form when making a winning chase bow at Carlisle (3¼m, good to soft) in October. Ran at least as well when third at the same course last month and he remains with potential as a chaser with headgear re-fitted.

Consistent rather than progressive over hurdles and bettered that form albeit fortuitously when making a winning start over fences at Newton Abbot under this rider on return. Struggled in better event at Cheltenham since but worth another chance back down in class. Engaged 1.33 Wincanton Saturday.

Winning Irish pointer/hurdler. No show in 3 starts over fences last season but fared much better (had a breathing operation and tongue tied) when second at Ffos Las on return. Went backwards in a big way at Ludlow last month, however, so needs to bounce back.

Forecasts

Illico De Cotte (13/8), Ballybentragh (3/1), Phantom Getaway (9/2), Mahland (5/1), Livin On Luco (7/1)

Verdict

ILLICO DE COTTE has made a positive start over fences this season, making a winning return at Carlise before surrounded by subsequent winners when third there last month, and he can resume winning ways. Ballybentragh and Mahland should both come on for their comeback runs now going chasing and are possible threats.
