€45,000 3-y-o, Westerner gelding. Dam 21f hurdle winner (stayed 3m), half-sister to useful hurdler/very smart chaser (stayed 2¾m) Starchitect. Makes plenty of appeal on paper and yard have won this twice in recent years.

Placed all 3 starts in points and showed plenty to work on returning from 20 months off on recent hurdles debut at Exeter. Entitled to improve.

Winning bumper debut at Chepstow last season and third at Newbury in January, but shaped as if amiss sent hurdling at former track after 9 months off/breathing operation. Bit to prove now.

Has made a promising start in bumper and 2m novice hurdle at Ffos Las (had breathing operation in between). Open to improvement.

Well held in Sandown bumper and 21f Warwick maiden hurdle.

Third sole start in Irish points and showed something to work on 18 months later in 2m Chepstow novice hurdle. Should build on that.

From a good jumping family and caught the eye on debut at Huntingdon 3 weeks ago, belying his long odds as he fared easily best of those held up. Sure to improve for top yard.

Dual bumper winner who finished an excellent third in the Nickel Coin at Aintree and gave that form another boost when making a successful debut over hurdles at Ludlow, getting there late but looking a good bit better than that in overcoming some inexperience. Useful prospect.

Well held in bumpers last season (well backed on debut). Work to do now hurdling.

Fairly useful form on Flat (stays 1½m), improved when winning last 2 starts. Interesting on hurdles debut in receipt of 3-y-o allowance.

Forecasts

La Marquise (11/10), Koapey (5/1), Wotter Trotter (15/2), Star Time (10/1), Akimos (11/1), Kap Boy (12/1), In Limbo (14/1), Peso (18/1), Noble Park (66/1), Media Style (125/1), Luna De Castana (150/1)

Verdict

LA MARQUISE overcame inexperience and was value for extra when scoring first time up over hurdles at Ludlow, seeing off Thursday's Fontwell winner Kalium, and she looks a useful prospect. She can follow up. Akimos and 3-y-o Star Time are interesting starting out in this sphere, while Wotter Trotter can improve on his encouraging debut.
