Left modest bumper form behind when springing a surprise on hurdles at Perth (2½m, good to soft) in May. However, that wasn't much of a race and she rather predictably came up short under a penalty on return at Kelso.

Fairly useful handicapper on the Flat (stays 1½m) and made second hurdles start a winning one at Sedgefield (19.8f, good) where the emphasis on speed worked in her favour. Likely she has more to offer in this sphere and she's a key player, despite the penalty.

Little impact in a couple of bumpers and she was beaten a fair way when third of 7 on hurdles debut in a 19.6f Huntingdon novice on return last month. Again beaten some way at Doncaster next time and she's presumably being brought along gradually with handicaps in mind.

Half-sister to useful hurdler/smart chaser Born Survivor and fairly useful hurdler/chaser Theatre Flame. Runner-up on the first of her 2 starts in bumpers but only reached the second flight on hurdles debut following 22 months at Wetherby. Now tried in a hood. Yard also saddles Lady Buttercup.

Fair third on debut in a Perth bumper in August but she failed to take a step forward when only fifth of 7 at Kelso the following month. Opposable starting out over hurdles here.

Left previous bumper form well behind when landing 6-runner contest at Warwick in September. However, she hasn't shown much in 2 starts over hurdles since and Brian Hughes prefers Chalk That Down.

Fair Flat winner but she has offered precious little in 2 starts since switched to hurdles.

4/9
£80,000 buy after winning sole outing in Irish points in February and has shown plenty in a couple of bumpers at top tracks, latterly finishing second in a listed contest at Cheltenham (16.4f, good). Will be a danger to all granted a clean round of jumping on this hurdles debut.

No show in a couple of bumpers for Paul Webber during the spring and fared no better on last month's hurdles debut for new yard at Huntingdon.

4/1
Fairly useful handicapper on Flat (stays 2m), successful twice this year. Possibly found race coming too soon when below par on latest start at York in October. Sold from Hughie Morrison's yard for 70,000 gns later that month and she could be a force here if taking to this game.

25/1
Fair 1½m Flat winner and has shown an aptitude for hurdling, making the frame in maidens at Musselburgh and Newcastle. Wasn't knocked about on either occasion and she's likely to do better in due course, particularly when going down the handicap route.

Forecasts

Siog Geal (4/9), Surrey Belle (4/1), Reel Rosie (13/2), Chalk That Down (18/1), Aunty Christine (22/1), Susiesparkle (25/1), Nellie Bluesky (28/1), Lady Buttercup (66/1), Ghidora (150/1), Spinnova (200/1), She's Got Bottle (200/1)

Verdict

With experience on her side, REEL ROSIE is taken to see off hurdling debutantes Siog Geal and Surrey Belle. The selection travelled well prior to quickly putting the race to bed on her second start in this sphere at Sedgefield and, on that evidence, she looks capable of going in again under a penalty. Surrey Belle was of a similar level of ability to Reel Rosie on the level and will be a threat if finding fluency but point-winner Siog Geal, who has shown plenty in two bumpers, is feared most.
