Idled and only just held on in a 17f maiden at Carlisle in February prior to trailing in last of 7 on his handicap debut at Bangor the following month. Placed on second of 2 starts in Irish points but didn't look a natural over fences on return last month so quickly reverts to hurdles.

In good hands but no better than modest form over hurdles so far, stepping up on reappearance ridden closer to the pace when third of 9 in handicap at Warwick (16f, good) earlier in the month. Considered heading up in trip.

11/2
Sedgefield maiden hurdle winner who has tumbled in the weights and returned to form on his second run back from a break/wind op when second of 13 in handicap at Ayr (19.5f, good to soft) last month, pulling clear of rest. Fancied to be in the mix despite a 3 lb rise.

Point winner who showed promise in bumpers/novice hurdles for this yard last season. Well beaten on Exeter handicap debut/reappearance and failed to improve for a bit more extra distance at Southwell (20.4f, good) since. Others more appealing.

Lightly raced these days (missed last season) and clearly not the force of old, finishing well beaten at Ayr (19.5f, good to soft) last month. Faces another struggle.

Winner at Ffos Las in February 2023 and possibly needed the run after 19 months off but did stop pretty sharply nonetheless when pulled up at at Chepstow (19.4f, good to soft) earlier in the month. This should reveal what ability remains.

Found some improvement on his previous hurdles efforts to get off the mark on his second handicap start after 5 months off at Fakenham (20f, good) recently, drawing clear before last and just kept up to work. Retains handicapping scope on bumper debut form so he's high on the shortlist.

Ran one of his better races so far over hurdles but a tongue tie didn't transform his finishing effort when sixth of 14 in handicap hurdle at Southwell (20.4f, good) 7 months ago. Handicapper given him a chance starting out for a new yard and worth a second look on reappearance.

Left previous Rules form behind when third at Catterick in February but a bit below that level at Ayr (20.4f, heavy) 11 days later. Will need to hit the ground running on return from 9 months off the track.

Bumper winner who went without the cheekpieces worn when last seen 5 months prior and ran respectably when third of 7 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (19.9f, good to soft) recently. Another step forward required if he's to open his account.

Successful on the second of his 2 starts between the flags but little to shout about in maiden/novice hurdles back in the spring. Has left Simon Waugh ahead of his handicap debut/return and the market can guide expectations.

Fair form on the Flat for Roger Charlton in 2021 but has offered little for new yard on the level and over hurdles, showing nothing switched to the Flat after 12 months off (had another wind op) at Chepstow (10f, good) in June. Back over hurdles and can only be watched.

Forecasts

Am Still Here (2/1), Glengolly (9/2), Hiero Sport (9/2), Let's Go Joe (11/2), Cuban Court (10/1), Royal Deeside (12/1), Malina Ocarina (14/1), Be The Difference (20/1), Professor Klump (33/1), Auba Me Yang (33/1), Jingle Du Gouet (40/1), Rehill Relic (50/1), Moroccan Moon (50/1), Keeper (150/1)

Verdict

Plenty in with chances but the suggestion is HIERO SPORT, who is lightly raced for his age and found some improvement on his previous hurdles efforts to get off the mark at Fakenham last month. He can make light of a 6 lb rise at the expense of Let's Go Joe, who returned to form on his second run back from a break when runner-up at Ayr recently. Royal Deeside and Glengolly can fight out minor honours in a tricky finale to solve.
