Prolific winner in points and ran to a fair level first time up over hurdles when second in a maiden at Hexham in May. Has failed to build on that in 2 subsequent starts, though, including when tried in a hood (retained here) back at Hexham last month. Improvement needed now handicapping.

Age: 5|  Weight: 11-13| J: Benjamin Macey(10)| T: J & A O'Neill| OR:  99
Shaped well on third hurdles start in a Warwick maiden and bettered that when runner-up with cheekpieces back on for her recent handicap bow at Chepstow (23.6f, good to soft). Combination of the extra furlong and this stiff track are both positive factors where this 5-y-o is concerned. Big player.

Returned to form with cheekpieces refitted when narrowly landing a 6-runner Wetherby handicap (21.2f, good) 18 days ago. However, she's up 4 lb and it's worth noting that she failed to build on her breakthrough success last season (also at Wetherby) in 4 subsequent starts during that campaign.

Age: 10|  Weight: 11-11| J: Leah Noreci(10)| T: James Moffatt| OR:  97| D
Back-to-back winner over fences at Cartmel last summer (well handicapped in this sphere judged on those exploits) but it's been a struggle for the most part this year and he didn't shown back hurdling in a first-time visor (retained) at Hexham the other day.

Winless last term but proved consistent and deservedly opened his hurdles account on return at Ayr (19.5f, good to soft). 4 lb rise fair enough and moving back up in trip shouldn't be an issue, so he has to go on the shortlist. Yard also saddles Teddy Mac.

Age: 7|  Weight: 11-0| J: Peter Kavanagh| T: Ewan Whillans| OR:  86| CD
Returned to form out of the blue to win over 2½m at Sedgefield last month. Her overall profile doesn't mark her down as one likely to follow up but she's won over this C&D and remains feasibly treated back up 2 lb, so there is cause for optimism.

Glory Hights199
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-13| J: William Maggs| T: C Grant| OR:  85
Remains winless following 8 attempts over hurdles but was runner-up twice last season and closed that campaign off with respectable performances at Newcastle and Hexham. Should make his presence felt if ready to roll.

Dual winner in this sphere back in 2022. 0-10 and more miss than hit over fences since and while he returns to hurdles on a feasible mark, others make more appeal all the same.

Modest performer who was pulled up at Hexham when returning from an 18-month absence in June. Not seen out since and he's readily passed over.

Teddy Mac22

Produced by far his best effort yet on second start in handicap company when fourth of 10 at Ayr (24.3f, good to soft) last time. Beaten under 2 lengths there and live each-way chance off the same mark, provided he is able to build on that improved display.

Irish point winner but he's 0-12 under Rules and looks up against once again from 7 lb out of the handicap.

Forecasts

Keppel Queen (5/2), Adveram (5/1), Perculator (5/1), Topkapi Star (7/1), Teddy Mac (8/1), Gypsey's Secret (10/1), Glory Hights (12/1), Wise Move (12/1), Don Brocco (20/1), Jelski (20/1), Tartan Cookie (33/1), Ideal De Romay (50/1)

Verdict

The one with the most attractive profile is KEPPEL QUEEN, who took a sizeable step forward on her recent handicap debut at Chepstow and there should be better to come from this unexposed 5-y-o. The Ian Duncan-trained duo Adveram and Teddy Mac may emerge as the main dangers, while Gypsey's Secret could also have a part to play if fit enough to do herself justice back from a seven-month break.
