Found only one too good all 3 starts in bumpers last season and perfect start in this sphere when winning 10-runner novice hurdle at Carlisle (17f) 4 weeks ago, drawing clear under hands-and-heels ride. Sound claims under a penalty with progress anticipated.

Placed in Irish points but offered little short-term encouragement in novice/maiden hurdles at Fontwell last month.

Timeform
Half-brother to 2 winners, including modest hurdler Only Fools. Signs of ability in bumper at Huntingdon 7 months ago and should take to this sphere. Interesting what the market makes of him and he looks the pick of the trio of representatives from this yard.

€8,£40,000 4-y-o, Court Cave gelding. Half-brother to 3 winners, including fair hurdler Charlie Siringo and modest 2m hurdle winner Forever A Dove. Won completed start in Irish points (May 12) and he's an interesting hurdles debutant.

Timeform
Third sole start in Irish points in 2022 and encouragement to glean from his exploits over hurdles during the spring, shaping better than the distance beaten suggests when sixth of 14 in novice hurdle at Ffos Las (21.9f) in May. In good hands and he remains open to improvement.
|
Timeform
Showed ability only start in bumpers back in the spring but notably weak in betting and offered little after 6 months off when ninth of 10 in novice hurdle at Uttoxeter (15.8f) on hurdles bow 26 days ago.
|
Timeform
Looked a good prospect when winning both starts in bumpers, the latest at Ffos Las (15.8f, heavy) in January 2023, impressing with how he travelled. Absent subsequently but he's a bright prospect now hurdling on belated return.

£13,000 5-y-o, Soldier of Fortune gelding. Half-brother to useful hurdler Theatre Man, stays 23f. Dam (c104/h130) 2½m hurdle winner. Made frame both completed starts in Irish points (latest May 25). Worth monitoring in the betting for clues.

Shaped a fair bit better than the bare result in 2 runs over hurdles last term, still clear second at last before weakening run-in at Uttoxeter, then faltering in bad ground at Aintree in December. Has undergone a breathing operation and now fitted with a tongue strap back from 11 months off.

Forecasts

Junker D'allier (4/6), Sole Solution (10/3), Old Time Chaser (4/1), Joltin N Jiving (14/1), Eagles Gold (28/1), Theatre Tom (33/1), Wild Grouse (40/1), Cherry Brave (100/1), Cher Monsieur (200/1), Our Jesse Boy (250/1), Windsor Wife (250/1)

Verdict

Having finished runner-up all 3 starts in bumpers, JUNKER D'ALLIER marked himself down as a good hurdles prospect when opening his account in a Carlisle novice 4 weeks ago, travelling strongly and drawing clear under hands-and-heels riding. He gets the nod to defy a penalty and make it 2-2 in this sphere. Old Time Chaser and hurdles debutants Sole Solution and Joltin N Jiving are others to consider.
