Won 3 times for Charlie Longsdon in 2023, including a Class 2 Worcester handicap in June 2023. Well held both subsequent starts that season and little encouragement to glean from both outings over the summer for new connections. Handicapper eases his grip but others more appealing.

Fair hurdler in France, winning 12-runner 4-y-o event at Compiegne by 8 lengths from Kingscross when last seen back in May. Has since left E. d'Andigne (for €125,000) and interesting to see what the market makes of him on return/handicap debut.

Without a win since his British debut but went close a few times last season and ran creditably returning from 7 months off when fourth of 10 in handicap at Cheltenham (16.4f, good) a fortnight ago. Should strip fitter for that outing so every chance he'll be involved.

On a roll and had plenty to spare when wide-margin winner of 9-runner handicap at Worcester (20f, soft) just over 3 weeks ago. Handicapper has given him a real pasting (14 lb higher since last run) but he warrants considerable respect in his current mood for a red-hot yard.

Forecasts

Double Powerful (5/4), Kissman (9/4), Jilaijone (4/1), Everyonesgame (13/2)

Verdict

The 5-timer beckons for DOUBLE POWERFUL, who made mincemeat of another field of low-grade handicappers at Worcester last month and Neil Mulholland's 5-y-o is taken to defy a hefty 14 lb rise at the expense of Jilaijone, who remains without a win since his British debut (at this track) but ran creditably on his recent return at Cheltenham. French-recruit Kissman, who changed hands for €125,000 in July, rounds off the shortlist.
