Black Sam Bellamy gelding who was purchased for £255,000 after easily winning his sole outing in Irish points. Has joined a top yard and is a most interesting Rules debutant.

Displayed ability in a brace of bumpers and a maiden hurdle at Punchestown in 2023. Fit from points when a modest fourth on chase debut in May and has since left S. Curling. Market may guide on this return to hurdling.

Hinted at ability sole outing in bumpers and again offered something to work on when fifth of 8 on his Lingfield hurdling debut, but laboured effort at Ludlow next time and took a nasty fall at the fourth on his return at Fontwell. Can only be watched at present.

Point winner at second attempt and better effort in bumpers when fourth of 8 on Rules debut here in February. Much more needed now going hurdling, however.

Has a good pedigree and has made an encouraging start to his career, finishing third in an Exeter bumper and fifth in a strong Newbury novice hurdle (20.5f). Off 11 months but surely has more to offer.

Fairly useful staying handicapper on the Flat who was given a considerate introduction to hurdling when seventh of 13 at Uttoxeter (15.8f) 23 days ago, not knocked about. Open to improvement but could be more one for handicaps a bit further down the line.

Is bred to stay well but showed no shortage of speed when making a winning start in a modestly-run bumper at Market Rasen (16.6f) 6 months ago. Good hurdling prospect.

Forecasts

The New Lion (10/11), Belliano (5/2), Prophesea (13/2), Kayf Dancer (15/2), Tamarind Bay (22/1), Sea Warrior (25/1), D'jo Dela Barriere (40/1), Law Of The Sea (50/1), Ballyvango (50/1), Dish Of The Day (80/1), Jumble Jury (150/1), Orinoco Flow (150/1), Formel Park (200/1), Sea Shed (200/1)

Verdict

THE NEW LION impressed when coming readily clear in a modestly-run bumper on his Market Rasen debut in April and is sure to have been well prepared ahead of this switch to hurdling, so he makes plenty of appeal representing an in-form yard. Belliano is a fascinating Rules debutant having been bought for big money following an Irish point success and strong market support for him would put a slightly different slant on matters. Kayf Dancer is another to consider.
