Bumper winner in the spring. Beaten at short odds on Uttoxeter hurdle debut and reappearance but capable of leaving that bare form well behind now.

Achieved only modest form when third in a pair of bumpers last winter. Might be best watched on this hurdle debut after 8 months off.

Made a winning bumper debut at Hereford last November and better form when second under a penalty at Wincanton 5 months later. Has a tongue tie added for hurdle debut. Useful prospect.

Well held in a bumper and maiden hurdle in Britain and similar story in 2 Flat runs on Jersey. Big outsider.

Useful in bumpers last season, including a Fontwell win. Found an Aintree Grade 2 too much on final start but should still have a bright future over jumps.

Placed in a couple of Chepstow bumpers towards the end of 2023. Switches to hurdles after 10 months off with his stable going well. It'll be interesting to see what the betting makes of him.

Fair maiden at best on Flat (stays 1¾m) but well held in 2 handicaps for this yard at the start of the season. Sets out over hurdles with a point to prove.

Held every chance when falling at the last in a point in April and purchased for £50,000 shortly after. The betting should help guide to expectations on Rules debut.

Placed on the second of 2 starts in Irish points but down the field in 2 hurdles this month.

Irish point winner but more one for the longer term over hurdles judged on his recent first attempt at Chepstow. Ace of Spades looks very much the stable first string.

£20,000 purchase after finishing runner-up sole start in Irish points but will need to be useful to make a winning start to her hurdle career here.

Forecasts

Jackpot Des Bordes (5/2), Walk In The Hills (5/2), Ace Of Spades (16/5), Tom Doniphon (4/1), Ambion View (14/1), George's Lad (18/1), Western Article (66/1), Alshadhian (80/1), Cherry Brave (100/1), Three Zambezi's (250/1), Johnnie River (300/1)

Verdict

JACKPOT DES BORDES did well in bumpers last season and gets the nod to make a winning start to his hurdle career for the Paul Nicholls team. Ace of Spades could step up a good deal on his first attempt over hurdles and is second choice ahead of Tom Doniphon, another who displayed plenty of promise in bumpers last term.
