Fairly useful hurdler/chaser for Paul Nicholls who tasted success in points prior to following up on his hunter debut at Listowel for S. Curling at Listowel (3m) back in June, flashing tail run-in but well clear with runner-up. Not dismissed on debut for new yard.

Dual chase winner here last summer and back on the scoreboard over C&D in May. Capitalised on lower hurdles mark tackling extended 26f trip back here 3 weeks ago and likely to be competitive again returned to larger obstacles.

Progressive as a novice chaser but largely disappointing thereafter. Did finish runner-up on second of 3 starts from his much-reduced mark last season though, and he returns from 9 months off with his yard firing in the winners. Tongue tie left off.

Dual scorer last season, signing off last season with another victory at Chepstow (23.6f, good to soft) in April. Has acquitted himself with credit after a break previously and a 2 lb rise shouldn't prevent a good showing if ready to roll back from 6 months off.

Really turned a corner since upped in trip over fences, positing his best effort yet when completing a C&D 4-timer 10 days ago, his jumping again impeccable. Handicapper applies further pressure but unlikely he's finished improving yet on that evidence.

Back to winning ways in 3m handicap chase at Ludlow in April (2023) and posted solid placed efforts the last twice, latest when second at Warwick the following May. Off 16 months and others look better treated, though.

Forecasts

Hold Your Fort (11/4), Bells Of Peterboro (4/1), Investment Manager (4/1), Fantastikas (9/2), Jeremy Pass (5/1), Marettimo (8/1)

Verdict

HOLD YOUR FORT has been one of the success stories of this summer, defying the assessor once more as he brought up a C&D 4-timer 10 days ago, his jumping again impeccable. He may not have finished progressing yet on that evidence and earns the vote to come out on top once more. Investment Manager has built up a fine record at this track and he's next best ahead of Fantastikas, who's an intriguing contender on return to action with his yard going great guns.
