Successful on second of 2 starts in bumpers during 2021/22. However, well-beaten all 3 starts in this sphere since returning from a lengthy absence this season.

Ulysses filly who stepped up a little on her debut when third of 5 in novice (80/1) at Yarmouth (10.1f, good to firm) 13 months ago, shaping like a staying type. Absent since and she's probably one for handicaps moving forward.

Twilight Son gelding. Friendless in betting and went with little promise when fourteenth of 16 in novice at Wetherby (7f, good to soft, 66/1) on debut in June. Looks best watched upped significantly up in trip.

Sent off at big prices and offered little in pair of novice contests at up to 12f last month. Hard to envisage him playing a part here on that evidence.

15,000 gns yearling, Le Havre colt. Shaped as if needing the run for fitness and experience when last of 8 in novice (16/1) at Hamilton (11.1f, heavy) on debut 19 days ago. This ought to reveal more.

Displayed fairly useful form when runner-up on second of 2 runs for Aidan O'Brien at 2 yrs. Midfield in pair of starts for new yard, possibly in need of the run after 9 weeks off when fifth of 8 in handicap at Kempton (11f) 14 days ago. Not one to write off with visor replacing blinkers.

Thrice-raced maiden. Second of 7 in novice at Salisbury (9.9f, good, 17/2) 47 days ago, no match for winner. Up in trip and she's fancied to make her presence felt.

Le Havre filly who is bred to be at least useful but could only manage sixth of 9 in maiden at Goodwood (9.9f, good to soft) on debut 17 days ago, off bridle long way out and merely plugging on. Still, she's very much the type to flourish at some stage for top stable.

11/1 and cheekpieces on for 1st time, run best ignored when ninth of 13 in handicap at Haydock (14f, good) 67 days ago, stumbling approaching straight. Well worth another chance with the pick of her maiden form having worked out very well.

Calyx filly. Half-sister to smart 1¼m-1¾m winner Ralston Road, ungenuine 11f-1¾m winner Carbon Dating and 11f-13f winner Wickywickywheels. Dam unraced. Likely to come on for the run.

Twice-raced filly. 28/1, first run since leaving Joseph Patrick O'Brien when fifth of 8 in novice at Hamilton (11.1f, heavy) 19 days ago, weakening over 1f out. Handicaps could well be more her bag moving forward.

Ulysses filly who didn't go without promise in a pair of 1m novice events this time last year for James Fanshawe. Changed hands for 18,000 gns ahead of return and pedigree suggests this longer trip could well see her improve further as a 3-y-o.

Forecasts

Games People Play (5/6), Christian Bruce (7/2), South Pole (9/2), Catch The Light (9/2), Melinda (33/1), Krissy (40/1), Meridian Way (40/1), Rainproof (80/1), Desejada (100/1), Xander Nevett (125/1), Rained Off (200/1), Bolton (250/1), Edward Cullen (250/1), Magic Glen (300/1)

Verdict

The pick of GAMES PEOPLE PLAY's maiden form has worked out particularly well and, with her latest Haydock run easily excused, she appeals as the type to quickly get back on track returned to maiden company. South Pole may well be sharper with his latest run under his belt and is feared with a visor replacing the blinkers. Catch The Light and Christian Bruce are next best, in that order.
