4/1
Likeable type who ran plenty of good efforts in defeat last year before finally back to winning ways in Group 3 at Saint-Cloud (13.9f). Took form to a new level when just failing under a penalty in Sagaro at Ascot/Henry II Stakes at Sandown before a facing a stiff task in Gold Cup at Royal Ascot.

33/1
Smart and likeable mare who was best of those held up when second to Grateful in the Stanerra Stakes at Fairyhouse last month. Ran about as well as could be expected in the Curragh Cup at the Curragh since and probably set for another minor role.

11/4
Very smart mare who produced a personal best when close second in the Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks at York last August. Not quite in same form thereafter but made an encouraging enough return when second to Bluestocking in the Middleton Stakes back at York in May. Big chance on pick of her form.

15/2
Smart performer who won Group 2 Prix de Pomone at Deauville (13.9f) in August last year prior to an excellent second in Group 1 Prix Vermeille at Longchamp (11.9f). Not at that level both starts this term but big player if returning to best back up markedly in trip.

Progressive on the Flat for Michael O'Callaghan last summer and best effort for this yard when going close in York Group 3 on return. Had excuses next time and gave her all up in trip when second to Trueshan in Sandown listed evemt, albeit flattered by her proximity to that rival.

11/2
Smart performer who was runner-up twice at Group 2 level last summer, including in this corresponding event. Didn't need to be at her best to win 11-runner listed contest at Pontefract (12f) in June but she only just held on and needs more back at this level.

Won a 1½m Cork Group 3 in the mud last August. Not up to an Ascot Group 1 on her final start last term but got back on track with her sights lowered when landing Bronte Cup at York (13.8f, good) on her return, despite failing to keep straight late in the day. Each-way claims back up in grade.

Showed much improved form to spring a mild surprise upped markedly in trip in 10-runner Stanerra Stakes at Fairyhouse (14f, good) 24 days ago, by ½ length from Dancing Tango, always holding on despite flashing tail. Open to further improvement.

Forecasts

Free Wind (11/4), Caius Chorister (4/1), River Of Stars (11/2), Grateful (7/1), Term Of Endearment (15/2), Melo Melo (15/2), Night Sparkle (8/1), Sumo Sam (10/1), Sweet Memories (20/1), Oxford Comma (25/1), Divine Comedy (25/1), Dancing Tango (33/1)

Verdict

FREE WIND was no match for Bluestocking on her reappearance back in May, but there's no disgrace in that and, with conditions very much in her favour, she has to be considered the one to beat judged on the pick of her form. Melo Melo will be a big threat if returning to her best, while Caius Chorister also warrants plenty of respect having taken her form to a new level this year.
