Resumed his progress with back-to-back Newcastle victories earlier this year. Shaped well dropped back to 5f here a fortnight ago, unable to take up a prominent pitch after an awkward break but making up plenty of ground late in the day. Has to be shortlisted from only 1 lb higher.

Resumed winning ways in remarkable fashion at Newcastle (5f) on his final outing last season, looking completely outpaced early before staying on to lead near line. Entitled to have needed last week's comeback run but may need strong pace to prove effective over this trip.

Won 3 of her last 4 starts as a juvenile and picked up where she left off bagging pair of Newmarket handicaps on her first 2 starts this year. Fine fourth of 28 when dropped to 5f in the Palace of Holyroodhouse over C&D at the Royal meeting last time and she's a leading player again.

Narrow winner at Doncaster on last season's return before fine third in this contest. Ended last season out of sorts though, so others are preferred on comeback from 9 months off despite good record fresh.

Consistent mare completed a hat-trick on AW over the winter. Also scored at Newcastle in March and produced a career-best when winning at Newmarket in May. Not disgraced up in grade when fourth in a listed contest at Ayr last time and she should give another good account.

Added to positive C&D record when winning here in May and took his form up a notch when landing 6-runner handicap at Windsor (5.1f, good to firm) last month. Creditable sixth of 17 in another C&D event (good) 14 days ago and place claims are solid again.

Confirmed he retains plenty of ability after 13 months off when edged out late on at Chelsmford on return and went a long way to backing up that effort when fourth there (5f) 20 days ago. Can give a good account without posing serious threat to principals.

Twenty four runs since last win in 2022. 13/2, respectable fourth of 11 in handicap at Yarmouth (5.2f, good to firm) 2 days ago. Not easy to make a case for.

Likeable sort typically gave running when fourth of 13 in handicap at Newmarket (6f, good to soft) 16 days ago. No reason why he shouldn't prove as effective back at the minimum trip and he's respected.

Off mark for the season at Redcar last month but followed that with a below-par showing at York last time, failing to beat a rival home. Others preferred.

Gained reward for several good efforts when landing 9-runner handicap at Doncaster (5f, good to firm) early in the month and is best not judged too harshly on finishing down the field over C&D 14 days ago, unable to land a telling blow from rear. Previous form gives him place claims.

Has struggled for consistency this season and produced a lesser effort when fifth of 8 in handicap at Chelmsford City (5f) 37 days ago. Remains on potentially handy mark, but others preferred having since left David Simcock (32,000 gns).

Forecasts

Woodhay Wonder (11/4), Albasheer (10/3), Two Tribes (13/2), Brave Nation (9/1), Existent (11/1), Woolhampton (12/1), Spangled Mac (14/1), Pepsi Cat (14/1), Bond Chairman (20/1), Harry Brown (28/1), Emperor Spirit (33/1), Muker (33/1), Call Me Ginger (33/1)

Verdict

ALBASHEER came from a long way back when second in a bigger field over C&D a fortnight ago and a reproduction of that performance should have him there or thereabouts once again. The likeable Woodhay Wonder arrives after a fine effort at Royal Ascot and is also shortlisted, whilst Woolhampton ran well behind the selection last time and holds sound place claims again.
